Don McGee has worked for over 25 years as a Wealth Advisor at the Melbourne offices of Merrill Lynch. Being "green" is in these days...and while sometimes that trend borders on the ridulous at other times we stumble upon some really good messages. The Strawbridge Art League chose "Go Green" as the topic of their most recent juried show recently and asked artists to think about messages in several specific areas. I am often asked as to the “appropriateness” of haggling, or bargaining, with an artist over the price. I’m sure there is a wide variety of opinions but, bravely, I’ll share mine. “Haggling” sounds awful, let’s refer to it as “making an offer.” And my feeling is: in most circumstances, done with discretion, it is perfectly acceptable to discuss price with an artist.
That being said, let me offer a few guidelines, again my opinions, as to how and where this might work. After all, today especially, the real price of anything is what a willing buyer and a willing seller agree upon. Read more....

We recently decided to repaint the bedroom and while everything was off the walls and out of its “normal” position I took a good look at the fresh new color and re-imagined the space. There were no empty nails or un-patched holes, no faded paint shapes…nothing to tell me where any of my previous art had to be hung. So, on a whim, I went “shopping”…that is, I wandered through the house and took a new look at “old art.” Read more....
