Profile

HeadshotCindy has lived in Melbourne on the east coast of Florida for the past 35 years.  After a career in writing and public relations, she returned to her childhood love of painting in 2004. Tentatively at first she began to explore pastel and oil painting under the guidance of Sandy Johnson.  With enthusiasm she explored collage, acrylic, graphite and anything else she could get her hands into.

Today Cindy finds herself immersed in the art world not only by creating her own work, but also by participating in workshops, shows, special projects and her painting gang: Pieces of 8.

She is a member of the Strawbridge Art League, the Southeastern Pastel Society, and the Student Art Guild of Melbourne.  She has been accepted into juried shows in Atlanta, GA, Linville, NC and Fredericksburg, VA as well as in Florida.

Her work hangs in public buildings throughout Brevard County under the auspices of the Brevard Cultural Alliance.  It can also be found in private collections in MD, DC, VA, TN, NC, TX and FL.  It is available for purchase at the allaprima styling group in Eau Gallie, FL; Moonstar Gallery in Foscoe, NC; her etsy shop, www.cindymichaudart.etsy.com and on her website.

In 2009 Cindy opened her one woman show “She Knew, Finally” in Melbourne and published a book by the same name.  She also served as one of the coordinators of the Transformations Project which opened in April 2010 at the Brevard Art Museum; in addition to being an artist-collaborator, she also contributed to the publication of a catalogue detailing the processes of this unique project.

“The more I paint,” she says, “the more things I see that need to be painted.  Everything I get involved with seems to open a door to an even more challenging opportunity.  There is so much to say and so many ways to say it that I could never leave my easel and still barely scratch the surface.”
